What we do

Each workday brings with it risks no matter what business you are in because of your dedication to a job well done while providing your customers with the very best services and products possible. At McKinney & Co we help each of our Clients focus on their chosen profession while leaving the fear of the “what if” to us. As your trusted agent advisor we help identify risks then secure the coverage needed to ensure the long term security of your business.

General Liability

General Liability insurance provides protection for your company’s current assets, and future earnings, helps resolve financial obligations, legal defense, or judgments awarded to an injured party. GL Coverage may also help defend claims for copyright infringement, false advertising, or libel and slander. Should someone be injured in some way in the course of visiting or doing business with your company, a general liability insurance policy can provide coverage.

Commercial Auto

A personal auto policy will not cover business vehicles and all licensed vehicles are required to have liability coverage – at the least. Commercial auto insurance is designed specifically for business use to provide protection from auto accidents that could lead to substantial loss and business closure if not properly insured. The commercial auto policy helps protect your business in many ways including:

• Accidental property damage and injuries to others caused by your company’s vehicle
• Damage to your company vehicle caused by an accident, uninsured driver, or vandalism
• Your customers or employee become injured in an accident and need medical assistance

Umbrella

Umbrella insurance is inexpensive and provides liability protection in situations where other insurance policies do not. The extra layer of coverage, the umbrella, helps protect current assets and future earnings by increasing the limit of insurance available to pay claims or even provide coverage for claims that are not covered by other policies. For example, should an auto accident claim exceed the property limit provided, the umbrella could cover the balance of the claims cost. Otherwise, that dollar difference is going to come out of pocket. Another area umbrella policies offer safeguards is for liability due to slander or defamation of character which are not covered by most general liability policies. Liability claims are filed daily – even frivolous claims.

Business Owner's Policy

A business owner’s policy or “BOP” is designed specifically for small or medium-sized businesses and combines several types of insurance coverage in single policy package. A BOP usually includes both property and liability coverage to protect from these type risks:

• Property, Products and Completed Operations
• Equipment Breakdown - Spoilage
• Business Interruption – Loss of Revenue
• General Liability

Surety Bonds

Owning a business means taking risks. Many businesses are required to provide local or state authorities with surety bonds to operate legally within their chosen field. Performance Bonds, Liquor Bonds, or even Lottery Bonds, McKinney and Co. offers all types of business bonds at the lowest possible price because we’ve got an underwriter and company that will write it.

Property Liability

Every day, you work hard to ensure that your business stays up and running. From serving your customers and offering your products and services to providing your employees with jobs, your business is a powerhouse of activity.

Workers' Compensation

A workers compensation policy will pay for an employee’s medical costs, lost wages, permanent disability or death benefits that result from a workplace injury or illness. Another part of coverage provided by a workers compensation policy is protection from employee lawsuits. Not only must a business provide a safe work place, it must also make sure that all employees are protected from work place accidents. Three things any business faces without workers compensation coverage:

• Legal Issues
• Employment – Labor Related Fines
• Financial Ruin

Even if coverage is not mandatory by state law, the coverage is critical and very much recommended. No one would want to lose their business because of an accident and liability that could have been transferred to an insurance company.

Home & Renters

Many homeowners and renters think that they are fully covered from an accidental loss. What we have found, however, is that many of our new clients were not adequately covered before a loss occurred due to property limits or restrictions for their home such as replacement cost versus actual cash value. We also see uncovered jewelry, pieces of art, and guitar collections to name a few. The amount of liability coverage compared to net worth is also an area of concern and why we offer an umbrella policy of up to $1 million or more.

Personal Auto

In most every state it is illegal to drive without car insurance and a minimum amount of liability coverage. And unless you have the ability to pay unexpected claims out of pocket, get yourself covered. Automobile insurance can cover your car, other cars, motorcycles, passengers, pedestrians, and bicyclists dependent upon the type coverage purchased. The three main coverage types are lability, collision and comprehensive. There are also a number of specialized extra coverages available which your agent can help determine by need. For example, uninsured or underinsured motorist protection covers medical bills and repairs that the other person’s insurance does not cover. Another extra that is available is a form of medical payment or personal injury protection for your passengers. Don’t wonder if you are covered, ask your trusted McKinney & Co. agent.
